Divorce
We have handled hundreds of divorce cases. This extensive experience and in-depth knowledge, in turn, allows us to build strong cases for our clients and their families. We understand how divorce can be a trying time and feel that you should not have to worry about the legal aspects of the process. We will listen intently to your goals and handle your divorce in a manner that allows you to be comfortable with the outcome long after it is over.
Following the initial consultation session, our divorce lawyer will determine the best strategy for your divorce based upon your individual goals. While we strive to settle your divorce peacefully through mediation, this is often not possible. When contention and bitterness settle in, our family law attorneys are ready to protect your rights and best interests in court.
Flexible Mediation Services
Our mediation style is always flexible and designed to give you and your spouse a way to settle conflict in an amicable manner. We feel that the more effort you and your former spouse put into mediation, the less you will fight, thus saving you both time, unnecessary anxiety, and substantial legal expenses. In fact, parties that mediate their divorce are less likely to end up fighting in court at a later date.
When Domestic Violence Is Involved, You Need Protection
In the event that your divorce involves possible or past violence against you, we can file a motion for an order for protection and take other legal action to protect you and your family from harm.
Post-decree Modifications and Enforcements
A divorce order establishes specifications with which each spouse must comply. However, if you experience a substantial change in circumstances that you feel either hinders you or makes you exempt from complying with your obligation, you may file for a post-decree modification. Also if your ex-spouse fails to adhere to the terms of the divorce settlement, you may also file for an enforcement. At Morrissey Brothers, P.C., Attorneys at Law we help clients handle post-decree modifications and enforcements of child custody, child support and spousal maintenance orders.
While there are many circumstances that can lead to modification or litigation, relocation, child support, spousal support and contempt proceedings are among the most common causes.
Child Support and Child Custody Rights
When an obligation for support is established or a custody issue, our firm will be relentless in helping you obtain a fair benefit or decision in your case.
In child support cases, most single parents find it difficult to provide care for children without the assistance of the other parent. Our firm understands the need for result-oriented action in child support cases and, if necessary, will seek a judgment, wage garnishment, and suspension of business and professional licenses against a non-paying parent.
